Greenhouse management over the winter months

Greenhouses require management all year round to get the best growth of the plants within them. The most important consideration of keeping your own greenhouse is managing the interior temperature of it, maintaining an equilibrium all year round is the primary aim.

During the winter you should monitor the internal temperature of your greenhouse at different time intervals in the day to make sure there are no sudden changes. As the colder months set in, you may need to add heating inside the greenhouse to maintain the temperature. Always remember to keep some ventilation into your greenhouse, without altering the internal environment too much.

You may see that you have to increase your methods for keeping snails and slugs away, as they tend to increase in numbers as the head towards the warmth of the interior of your greenhouse. Always check your plants daily for any unwanted pests and discard any contaminated plants.
